Photography Policy

We understand that you might want to photograph your conference, meeting or family reunion experience, and we want to support your efforts. However, Techny Towers maintains a policy on interior and exterior photography of our grounds, which is private property.

After you review the following policy on photographing our buildings or grounds, you will see that you need prior written permission for all photography. No photos of the Chapel of the Holy Spirit are ever allowed. Photography uses (by not-for-profit or for-profit organizations) for commercial purposes are also prohibited.

Techny Towers’ Policy on

Interior photos of the main Chapel of the Holy Spirit are prohibited. Books of professionally photographed pictures of the windows and many architectural elements of the Chapel may be purchased in the Techny Towers Book Store.

Non-commercial Photography With permission, visitors are permitted to take photographs of the building and grounds, except the main Chapel, for private, personal, non-commercial use. Photographs may not be published, sold, reproduced, transmitted, distributed or otherwise commercially exploited in any manner whatsoever. Tripods or monopods are not permitted. Cameras must be hand-held.

Photography/video recording of an event occurring in the building is permitted only with prior arrangements and specific permission of the Executive Director. Permission to photograph an event in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit (Main Chapel) at Techny Towers applies only to the event taking place for which permission has been granted. Permission does not apply to any photography of the windows, statuary, lighting or other architectural elements of the Chapel. This is strictly prohibited.

Commercial Photography No photographs, videos, CDs, multimedia, or images of any kind of the building, grounds and property are allowed to be taken for commercial uses of any kind (whether for-profit or non-profit), or for any use without express written permission of the Executive Director of Techny Towers.

Special Occasion Photos Permits are issued for special occasion photos, such as reunions or anniversaries, on the Techny grounds (usually the pond or bridge area). Tripods, monopods and auxiliary lighting are permitted. Permit requests must be made in advance through the Executive Director. There is a fee for this type of photo shoot. Forms are available at the Towers’ front desk.

Definitions

  • Photography is intended to include the capturing or recording of image, sound or both by mechanical or digital means, such as by 35 millimeter camera, digital camera, cell phone camera, disposable camera, video camera, tape recorder, etc.
  • Photographer includes any individual actively engaged in capturing an image, sound or both by mechanical or digital means such as by 35 millimeter camera, digital camera, cell phone camera, disposable camera, video camera, tape recorder, etc. for any purpose.
  • User refers to any individual whether acting in their own personal interests or professionally requesting to examine or receive copies or reproductions of Techny images.
  • Image is intended to mean any picture captured in any photographic, mechanical, or digital format. For the purposes of this document, all references and policies relating to images also applies to sound recordings as well.
  • Publication is used to refer to reproduction or dissemination for sale of distribution by mechanical or electronic means, including, but not limited to books, magazines, newsletters, newspapers, cards, posters, videos, CDs, or websites.

The Society of the Divine Word is the owners of the land and buildings known as Techny, Techny Towers, Divine Word International. As such, the Society of the Divine Word reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to withhold and/or withdraw permission to photograph on its premises.
